Private Dog Ground Transport — Safe, Door-to-Door Travel Nationwide

When flying isn’t possible — due to size, breed restrictions, anxiety, or personal preference — private ground transport offers the safest, most controlled way to move your dog across the country.

Fully escorted, one-on-one private road transport — designed for large, restricted, reactive, and medically complex dogs who need more than standard shipping.

Why Dog Parents Trust Cabin Companions for Ground Transport

When flying isn’t an option — due to size, breed restrictions, anxiety, or personal preference — private ground transport requires experience, structure, and calm leadership. Especially for large, breed-restricted, or highly sensitive dogs, private ground transport offers the most controlled environment possible.

At Cabin Companions, we specialize in one-on-one, fully escorted dog transport across the U.S. We do not operate shared vans, third-party drivers, or multi-pet transport routes. We design each route around your dog’s temperament and needs — with no shared rides, no handoffs, and no unpredictable environments.

How Our Private Dog Ground Transport Works

Designed for large dogs, airline-restricted breeds, anxious travelers, bonded pairs, seniors, and dogs with medical or dietary needs.

1.
We Design a Route Around Your Dog

Before departure, we learn your dog’s temperament, routines, medical needs, and sensitivities. Whether managing reactivity, bonded pairs who shouldn’t be separated, or strict feeding schedules, we structure the route and daily pace specifically around your dog’s comfort and stability.

2.
One Dedicated Handler — Start to Finish

Your dog travels with one experienced handler (Gabe or Monica) for the entire journey. There are no transfers, no subcontractors, and no unfamiliar handoffs — just consistent, calm care from pickup to delivery.

3.
Private Vehicle, No Shared Transport

We transport only one family’s pets at a time. That means no exposure to other dogs, no crowded environments, and no unpredictable interactions — especially important for reactive or anxious dogs.

4.
Structured, Safe Driving Days

Each day is carefully planned with 10–12 hour driving blocks, controlled leash breaks, and overnight stays in vetted pet-friendly hotels. We avoid dog parks and uncontrolled settings to minimize stimulation and risk.

5.
Real-Time Updates & Direct Access

You’ll receive regular photo updates throughout the journey, live AirTag tracking, and direct access to our personal cell phone. You’re never wondering where your dog is or how they’re doing.

What Our Clients Say

From our first Zoom interview with Gabe to the time he finally delivered our fur baby to our destination, we were completely impressed with Cabin Companions. Most importantly, Gabe was able to deal effectively with adversity: First of all, he was able to get our very highly sensitive cat through TSA with no problems. Secondly, when the original flight to our destination was delayed for several hours, Gabe was able to think quickly, and find an alternative flight that got our cat back to us only 45 minutes late. We would recommend Cabin Companions to anyone.

Gabe was wonderful from start to finish in the process of taking care of getting my cat, Millie, to France. This was a very stressful time in general and having him handle the ins and outs of how to get her safely to France with the least amount of stress to me was totally worth it. I met with him personally and could tell he was an animal lover and would care for her like I would, but he was able to do it completely focused on her. The peace of mind knowing she was in the cabin with Gabe as opposed to cargo was priceless. Millie is my baby and I would not hesitate to use Cabin Companions if you are looking for quality service. He brought her right to my door and by the next day she was totally fine and happy with her surroundings.

Cabin Companion was incredible from start to finish. They had every step of the process worked out that was easy to understand. They were there for any questions or concerns with knowledgeable experienced answers. My cat "Tiger" gets anxious for a 10min car ride so I needed someone experienced and caring. Gabe and Monica kept us updated throughout the fur babies journey with photos. It is obvious they care about your pet's comfort, safety and emotional well being. My sister used them for her 2 cats and my parents and I trusted them with our cats as well from NY to Thailand.I highly recommend their service to any fur baby parent.

When dogs cannot — or should not — fly, private ground transport demands a higher level of planning, structure, and control. We design every route around your dog’s temperament, medical needs, feeding schedule, and stress triggers — not the other way around.

Large dogs. Bully breeds. Reactive dogs. Bonded pairs. Seniors. Dogs with medical conditions or strict routines.

Your dog is never transferred between drivers, never placed in a shared van, and never treated as cargo. One dedicated handler. One structured route. One carefully managed journey from door to door.

This is long-distance dog relocation done properly — private, controlled, and without compromise.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does cross-country dog ground transport take?

Most coast-to-coast trips take 4–6 days, depending on distance, weather, and route conditions.
We structure each day around 10–12 hours of driving with planned, controlled breaks and pet-friendly overnight stays.

Your dog is never rushed — safety and calm handling always come first.

Is my dog the only pet in the vehicle?

Yes.

We provide fully private, one-on-one ground transport. Your dog is the only animal traveling in the vehicle. There are no shared rides, no transfers, and no third-party handoffs.

One handler. One route. One dedicated journey.

Do you transport large dogs and bully breeds?

Yes — and this is one of the primary reasons families choose private ground transport.

Many airlines restrict or refuse:

• Bully breeds
• Short-nosed breeds
• Dogs over certain size or crate limits

Private ground transport eliminates those airline restrictions entirely.

What if my dog is reactive or anxious?

We are experienced in handling reactive and anxious dogs.

For these trips, we:
• Avoid dog parks and uncontrolled environments
• Use quiet, structured leash breaks
• Minimize exposure to other animals
• Maintain consistent handling throughout

Because your dog is the only pet traveling, stimulation is dramatically reduced compared to airports or cargo facilities.

What about senior dogs or dogs with medical needs?

Private ground transport is often ideal for:

• Senior dogs
• Dogs recovering from injury
• Dogs with mobility limitations
• Dogs on strict medication schedules
• Dogs with special dietary needs

We structure feeding, medication, and rest around your dog’s routine.

Can bonded dogs travel together?

Yes — and private ground transport is one of the best options for bonded pairs.

Unlike airline cargo, your dogs stay together the entire journey.

How much does private dog ground transport cost?

Pricing depends primarily on distance, routing, and timing.

As a general guide:

• Regional routes (under ~1,000 miles) typically start in the mid-$4,000s
• Mid-distance routes (1,000–2,000 miles) generally fall between $5,500–$7,500
• Cross-country transports typically range from $7,500–$9,500+

Each quote is fully inclusive and customized to your dog’s needs.

Because we provide one-on-one, private transport (no shared rides, no handoffs), this is a premium, fully personalized service.

Request a custom plan for exact pricing based on your route.

Is this safer than flying?

For many dogs — especially large, restricted, anxious, or senior dogs — ground transport offers:

• More control
• Fewer environmental stressors
• No airline breed restrictions
• No cargo handling
• No airport chaos

Every dog is different, but when flying isn’t possible or comfortable, ground transport is often the safest alternative.
