Common questions

What families ask before entrusting us with the journey.

Clear answers about personally escorted, in-cabin pet transportation for domestic and international travel.

Is this the same as a flight nanny service?

Some people use “flight nanny” to describe any pet escorted on an airplane. Cabin Companions provides a more comprehensive, professional service: individualized route planning, preparation before travel, one or more accountable escorts, in-cabin or accompanied transportation, direct communication, and coordinated pickup and reunion. We are not a marketplace assigning your pet to an unknown courier.

Can you travel domestically or internationally with my pet?

Yes. We personally escort cats and small dogs on domestic routes throughout the United States and on many international routes. Airline rules, entry requirements, timing, pet size, and destination restrictions differ, so every journey is assessed and planned individually.

Will my pet travel in the airplane cabin?

Whenever your pet meets the airline’s requirements, they travel in the passenger cabin with their Cabin Companion. Accompanied excess-baggage transportation may be available on certain routes when appropriate. We do not coordinate international commercial manifest cargo shipping when we are not accompanying the pet on the same flight.

Can you transport a large dog by air?

Large dogs generally cannot travel in the passenger cabin unless they are qualified service animals traveling with their handler. For most large dogs, our private ground transportation service is the more appropriate personally managed option.

Can you help with international pet travel paperwork?

Yes. We guide families through airline documentation, destination entry requirements, health-certificate timing, and other travel preparations relevant to the route. When a journey requires veterinary or government-issued documents, we explain what is needed and help keep the process on schedule.

Can you care for an anxious pet or give medication during travel?

Yes, when the pet and medication are appropriate for travel. We create an individualized comfort and medication plan with the family and veterinarian, follow written instructions, monitor the pet closely, and have 24/7 veterinary access if concerns arise. Medication should be tested before travel day whenever the prescribing veterinarian recommends it.

Will the same person remain with my pet for the entire journey?

Yes. Continuity is central to our model. The Cabin Companion—or team of Cabin Companions—responsible for the journey remains personally accountable from the agreed pickup point through reunion, without marketplace contractors, unexplained handoffs, or shared transport networks.

Can you pick up and deliver my pet?

Yes. Depending on the route, we can coordinate pickup and reunion at the home, airport, hotel, veterinary office, breeder, rescue, or another agreed location. Any required ground transportation is included in the personalized plan and proposal.

How much does personally escorted pet transportation cost?

Single-pet domestic in-cabin journeys typically start at $2,995, and international journeys generally start at $6,500. The final proposal reflects the route, airfare, travel time, number of pets, documentation requirements, and ground coordination. You receive one complete price before reserving the journey.
