Flying Two Cats to Spain: Monaco & Luna’s Journey from Los Angeles to Barcelona
When Monaco and Luna’s family prepared to relocate from California to Spain, they wanted experienced professionals to help guide their cats through an international journey spanning multiple flights, airport transfers, customs, and finally, home delivery in Barcelona.
From check-in at Los Angeles International Airport to their arrival at their new home in Spain, two Cabin Companions escorts remained with Monaco and Luna every step of the way.
Despite the long travel day, both cats handled the journey beautifully—and are now happily settling into their new life in Barcelona.
Journey Snapshot
- Route: Los Angeles, California → Seattle, Washington → Barcelona, Spain
- Service: International in-cabin cat travel
- Pets: Monaco & Luna
- Distance Traveled: ~6,300 miles (10,140 km)
- Special Considerations: International travel, flight connection, customs clearance, home delivery, veterinarian-approved travel medication
A Calm Start at LAX
International pet travel begins long before boarding.
At Los Angeles International Airport, we met up with Monaco and Luna’s pet parents who were traveling the same day but on a different airline. We checked in smoothly before heading through TSA. Both cats handled the security screening exceptionally well, helped by a patient TSA officer who happened to be a cat lover.
With security behind us, we had time to settle into the Delta Sky Club, where both cats could relax quietly before their first flight.
Veterinarian-approved medication helped make the experience more comfortable, allowing both cats to remain calm as the long day of travel began.
Two Very Different Travelers
Like many siblings, Monaco and Luna had very different personalities.
Monaco quickly settled into travel life and was one of the easiest cats we’ve ever escorted. He remained relaxed throughout the flights, rested comfortably in his carrier, and handled each stage of the journey with remarkable confidence.
Luna had more to say.
She spent much of the trip announcing her opinions with an impressive collection of meows, but despite being wonderfully vocal, she remained calm, comfortable, and cooperative from beginning to end. Between flights, both cats relaxed in the Delta Sky Club before continuing their journey across the Atlantic.
Luna is safely escorted through TSA in a private screening room at Los Angeles International Airport. Private screenings allow cats to be removed from their carriers in a secure, enclosed space, reducing stress while preventing any risk of escape before continuing their international journey.
Monaco quietly watches the activity at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport during his layover. Calm and curious throughout the trip, he handled each airport, flight, and connection like an experienced traveler.
Arriving in Spain
After landing in Barcelona, we guided Monaco and Luna through customs before completing the final leg of their journey with home delivery.
International travel involves far more than simply booking flights. Customs procedures, document verification, airport navigation, and safe transportation all have to come together seamlessly.
By the end of the trip, Monaco and Luna were safely reunited with their family and already beginning to explore their new home in Spain.
