Megan and her partner were moving from Los Angeles to Valencia with three cats and wanted experienced support for the journey. Cabin Companions would care for two cats while Megan handled the third, allowing the family to stay together while sharing the physical and logistical work of international pet travel.
We helped prepare the paperwork and plan a multi-stage route that would carry the family from Los Angeles to Spain, through customs, across Madrid, and finally by train to their new apartment in Valencia.
A Last-Minute Change to the Family Plan
On travel day, Megan’s partner became too sick to fly. What had been planned as a six-member traveling party suddenly became a fivesome. We regrouped, reassigned responsibilities, and continued with Megan and all three cats.
After flying to the East Coast, we used the United Club at Newark to pause, snack, and reset before the overnight flight to Madrid. Keeping the cats together while navigating each airport stage required careful coordination, especially with one fewer person than planned.
Planes, Customs, Cars, and Trains
Madrid was not the end of the journey. After passing through customs, we took a cab to the train station and boarded a two-hour pet-friendly train to Valencia. A final car ride brought us to Megan’s brand-new apartment.
We helped the cats settle into their new home before saying goodbye. With multiple flights, customs, two ground transfers, a train, three cats, and an unexpected change in the traveling party, this journey was a true exercise in door-to-door coordination—and exactly the kind of day when experienced help makes the greatest difference.
