Toronto, Canada to Italy: Tontish’s International Journey Home
When Tontish’s family prepared for their move from Canada to northern Italy, they wanted to ensure their beloved cat could travel safely and comfortably every step of the way.
Cabin Companions met the family at Toronto Pearson International Airport and accompanied Tontish throughout her international journey. Together, we flew from Toronto to Paris, connected onward to Milan, spent the night in Italy, and completed the final leg of the trip by train to Bergamo, where Tontish was reunited with her family in their newly adopted home.

Preparing for an International Move
International relocations often involve multiple forms of transportation, unfamiliar environments, and long travel days. Prior to departure, we worked closely with Tontish’s family to review travel requirements, carrier preparation, and strategies for keeping her comfortable throughout the journey.
Every pet responds differently to travel, but careful planning helps create a smoother experience for both pets and their people.
Crossing the Atlantic
We met Tontish and her family at Toronto Pearson Airport and accompanied them through the departure process before boarding the flight to Paris.
Like many cats, Tontish spent much of the journey quietly observing the world around her from the safety of her carrier. Throughout the flight, we monitored her comfort, offered reassurance when needed, and ensured she remained relaxed during the long international crossing.
After arriving in Paris, we continued onward to Milan, completing the air travel portion of the journey.
An Overnight Stop in Milan
Because reaching Bergamo required additional ground transportation, we spent the night in Milan before continuing the following day.
An overnight stay allows pets an opportunity to decompress after a long travel day. Tontish quickly settled into the hotel environment and enjoyed a chance to stretch, relax, and recharge before the final leg of her journey.
After arriving in Italy, Tontish joined us for the final leg of her journey by rail. Traveling comfortably from Milan to Bergamo, she remained calm and relaxed as we made our way through the Italian countryside toward her family’s new home.
Following a long day of international travel, Tontish quickly settled into the hotel for an overnight stay in Milan. A comfortable room, a familiar routine, and some well-earned rest helped her recharge before continuing on to Bergamo the next morning.
By Train to Bergamo
The following morning, we boarded a regional train for the short trip from Milan to Bergamo.
Rail travel is often a comfortable and pet-friendly way to navigate Europe, and Tontish handled this portion of the journey beautifully. Secure in her carrier, she remained calm as we traveled through the Italian countryside toward her family’s new home.
Upon arrival, we completed the final handoff and delivered Tontish safely to her family.
After days of travel spanning two continents, multiple airports, an overnight stay, and a train journey through Italy, Tontish was finally able to explore her new surroundings and begin settling into life in her new home.
