As a bulldog, Kevin was not a good candidate for air travel. His medical needs also required careful temperature control, medication management, and meals at very specific times. A private ground journey gave us the flexibility to build the trip around him.
Kevin was already comfortable in his family’s Mini Cooper, so rather than moving him into an unfamiliar vehicle, we drove the client’s car from just outside Ann Arbor to Santa Fe.

A Journey Built Around Kevin
We completed the drive over several days, choosing the pace, stops, and overnight accommodations around Kevin’s comfort. His medication and feeding routine stayed consistent, and we carefully avoided the heat that can be especially dangerous for flat-faced breeds.
Kevin could not have been happier—or better behaved. He made friends everywhere we stopped, settled comfortably into the rhythm of the road, and became an enthusiastic hotel-bed snuggler each night.
The Best Kind of Reunion
By the time we reached Santa Fe, Kevin had thoroughly enjoyed his road trip. His mom was thrilled to see him, and Kevin responded with the kind of joyful, whole-body excitement that leaves no doubt he knows he is home.
His family gave us a handwritten card at the end of the trip, a keepsake from a journey we will always remember. Kevin’s story shows why private ground travel is not simply a substitute when flying is unavailable. For pets with medical or breed-specific needs, it can be the safest and most personal way home.
